Wisconsin FB News: Badgers Make Cut for 4-Star ATH, Braelon Allen Recognized, More
Wisconsin Badgers News Recap:
It's been a busy couple of days for the Wisconsin football program, ladies and gents, but fear not because BadgerNotes can help get you back up to speed with a roundup of some important news you may have missed.
Wisconsin Makes the Cut for 4-Star ATH
Yesterday afternoon, 2024 four-star athlete Tysean Griffin out of Chicago, Illinois, released a top ten list consisting of Tennesee, Maryland, Michigan State, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Purdue, Lousiville, and the Wisconsin football program.
According to the Rivals recruiting database, Griffin is the No. 32 ATH in the country and the No. 10 player in Illinois.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound ATH was a target of Luke Fickell and his coaching staff when he was the head coach at Cincinnati - and made sure to offer Griffin a scholarship in January, shortly after taking over the Wisconsin football program.
Griffin attended UW's junior day last month and is firmly in the mix to secure the four-star (projected CBs) services.
Braelon Allen Named Top 10 RB by On3
Wisconsin football fans collectively let out a sigh of relief when star running back Braelon Allen announced he was staying with the program through the coaching change.
After registering back-to-back second-team, All-Big Ten accolades in his first two seasons, On3.com listed him as their 10th-ranked running back in the country for the 2023 college football season.
The 6-foot-2, 238-pound RB finished the season with 208 carries for 1,126 yards (5.4 YPC) and 10 touchdowns despite facing a stacked box on almost every single play.
Under new offensive coordinator Phil Longo, I expect the Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin native will have his best season in the Cardinal and White before declaring for the NFL draft at season's end.
Other Wisconsin Football News
According to a report from Calvin Watkins of Dallas News, former Wisconsin football quarterback Scott Tolzien was promoted to QBs coach by the Cowboys on Wednesday afternoon.
Tolzien, a former Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner in 2010 with the Badgers, has been an offensive assistant with the Cowboys for the past three seasons and is a meticulous student of the game.
He also played under head coach Mike McCarthy in Green Bay, where he was a backup for the Packers from 2013-15 - so they have a long-standing working relationship.
Had Jim Leonhard become the head coach of the Wisconsin football program, it was rumored that Scott Tolzien was high on his list of options to take on an important role on his staff.
