Wisconsin Basketball wins sloppy game 56-45 against UW-Green Bay
Wisconsin Basketball defeated in-state opponent UW-Green Bay 56-45 at the Kohl Center on Tuesday night, improving to 3-0 on the season.
Madison, Wis. - Wisconsin basketball improved to 3-0 on the season with an UGLY 56-45 win over the UW-Green Bay Phoenix at the Kohl Center on Tuesday night.
Head coach Greg Gard improved to a perfect 7-0 against UW-Green Bay during his tenure, giving UW its third 3-0 start during the Greg Gard era.
UW struggled to find any kind of offensive rhythm, committed a season-high 14 turnovers, and shot an abysmal 30.8% from the floor. However, their saving grace was connecting on 8-of-19 attempts (42.1%) from beyond the arc.
It was an especially rough night for Wisconsin's 'Big 3', who combined to shoot 8-for-31 (22%) from the field and couldn't buy a bucket, especially near the rim.
Junior guard Jordan Davis led the way for the Badgers, finishing with 11 points, three rebounds, and two steals on 3-of-7 shooting. UW also received contributions from Max Klesmit and Steven Crowl, who had nine points apiece.
“A win is a win,” said Davis. “Sometimes it’s not going to be your night but you got to rally as a team.”
Thankfully, the Badger's defense came to play for all 40 minutes, holding the Phoenix to 34.9% from the field and saving themselves from an unforgivable upset.
Survive and advance, baby. Wisconsin improved to 27-1 all-time against UW-Green Bay.
